Plant Hanger Tutorial

Updated: Mar 5, 2022

Plant hangers are one of my favourite macrame projects. They are simple enough to make, but can be made to look very different with a few simple changes.

In the video I will be taking you through the main knots and techniques, but you amend the design to fit your own creativity.

For this make you will need:

  • 8 x 4 meter cord (I use braided cord)

  • 2 x 50 cm cord

  • Wooden ring

  • A hook to hang the plant hanger off while you make it.

Now it's time to give it a go yourself!

Top tips to remember:

  • The longer the sinnets that you make the shorter the length of the plant hanger will be.

  • Its okay to make mistakes and undo and redo knots, practice makes perfect.

  • The distance between the first and second row of square knots that connects the bundles to make the net will determine the width of the plant pot the plant hanger can accommodate. The further the first and second row are the larger the pot can be. For extra large pots don't be afraid to add in a third row.

Create and Enjoy,

Kate
